This vintage mantle lustre hurricane candle lamp is 22 inches tall to the top of the polished wheel cut crystal shade. The lamp body appears to be nice quality molded lead crystal. Like the shade, the base has a clear, resonant ring when lightly tapped with a fingernail. The bottom ring and top of the candle cup are ground and polished. There are no bubbles or flaws in the glass.

There are two tiers of hand cut crystal prisms that reflect rainbow coloring as they catch the light. The smaller tier has seven flat-back, notched arrow shape 5 inch prisms. The large prism tier has eleven 6-3/4 inch prisms in the same style. One prism is missing from each bobeche ring, though the crystal button top is present for one. The two sets of prisms appear to be a marriage - I don't think the smaller set belongs to this lamp. There are no marks or signatures on any of the pieces. There's a shallow flake to the inner rim of the candle cup, noticeable only when you look directly down inside it after removing the shade. Otherwise the lamp is in excellent condition aside from the 2 missing prisms and some normal table wear to the underside of the base - more an indication of age rather than damage. The lamp parts will be safely wrapped and double boxed for shipping. It already weighs nearly 8 pounds before packing.

I purchased this item through an Idaho auction house. It was presented as having been made by a famous French crystal maker. I'm aware that some of this company's Mid Century pieces were marked with paper labels, but the lack of acid etch marks on any of the pieces concerns me, along with the fact that the smaller bobeche ring is not original. If it truly is what the auctioneer claimed, I got a bargain and so will the buyer, but I really can't say who made it.
