This vintage machine woven jacquard Gobelin-style pictorial tapestry wall hanging or throw was made in Mid Century Europe, probably Italy or Spain. It has repeating, stylized folk art motifs of flowers, baskets, rococo cherubs, and chinoiserie pagodas.

The tapestry measures 45 by 48 inches not including the silky 3 inch fringe. There are two areas of missing fringe - a 5 inch patch around one corner, and another smaller 2-1/2" area. Lighting in the photo makes it appear like more is missing. The yellow warp background threads are either slubby cotton or linen, the colored shiny weft threads are silky, vibrant rayon.
