These antique exotic bird Majolica style wall pockets were made in Japan. Many people call them parrots as a catch-all term though neither one actually are. Painted in bold colors, the larger bird is 9-1/2 inches and has the pocket opening at the side of its right wing. The other bird is about 8 inches high and has the traditional top pocket opening.

They each have an impressed Made in Japan mark. One has a hand written note on the back: "From Maud Brookshire to Granny 1927 Xmas". Presumably both were gifted to Granny as they came from the same estate. This one has a short, tight stress hairline above the hanging hole that does not go all the way up and doesn't show from the front or affect hanging. Both wall pockets are in otherwise excellent condition with no damage.
