A vintage Norman Durand designer ladies' hat from the mid 1940s war era. It's a shallow-crowned, narrow-brimmed "perch" style, designed to tilt slightly forward or to the side of the head. Made of black synthetic straw crinoline , the brim is covered in black rayon Venice lace with purple, gold, and green velvet flowers at the front. The 1-1/4 inch black velvet ribbon is tied in a bow at the back.
The hat has no tears or damage, but it does need some steaming to restore the shape. Upon close examination, bits of dried glue are visible under the lace trim. The size would qualify as medium. Exterior dimensions brim to brim - 9-1/2 inches, height is about 2-1/2" (maybe 3 once steamed).
