In Stock 1

This wonderful Douglas Fir wood footlocker or sea trunk belonged to James A. Newbold (1926-2006), who served in the battle of Okinawa during World War II as a Navy Seabee. He was a member of the 146th Naval Construction Battalion, Company D, Platoon 4. He likely built the trunk himself.

His name is stenciled across the front, and Okinawa in Asian lettering is stenciled on the back corner. The chest measures 24 by 14 by 8-1/2 inches high. The box is missing the upper plate of the center lock and the handle, but the two surrounding latches are intact. The exterior has plenty of honest wear, but the interior is clean and in very nice condition.
