This adorable little 3-1/4" Josef Originals Pitty Sing pottery figurine was Muriel Joseph George's first commercial success, produced in her garage in 1946 (source California Pottery Scrapbook by Jack Chipman). The bare-bottom Asian baby sits on a pillow, petting a white cat in his or her lap. The only part of the figurine that is not glazed is the red hat - it's cold painted and has a few tiny pinpoint specks of color loss. It's one of two hat styles made - the other was a larger, fully glazed version, but I'm not sure which one came first.
There's some very faint crazing that can be seen only in good, strong light (see the 4th photo). Otherwise no damage. The original foil Josef Originals California label is intact. The bottom is inscribed Josef Originals Pitty Sing and stamped Copyright M.J. George.
