A pair of elaborate 1950s shadow box style Chinese wall plaques, 7-1/2" diameter not including the brass hangers. Inside are 3-dimensional Asian floral scenes made from carved plastic, surrounded by a sloped ring of embroidered red and gold brocade under glass and framed in black plastic. The Chinese characters on the plaque with the fish translates to wishes for a long, healthy, and prosperous life, the other has a phrase symbolizing rebirth, hope, and new beginnings of spring.
The plaques were originally secured at the backs with tiny nail brads that didn't hold. The original owner had used black electrical tape to hold them together but the adhesive wasn't holding so I replaced it. It's easily removed if desired and doesn't harm the underlying wood panel or remove the black paint.
