This vintage United mantle or shelf novelty clock is musical, lighted, and animated. Inside the mirror lined golden brass canopy to the left of the clock dial is a ballerina figure who twirls and dances to the music box when wound. A small, old red light bulb is above her. It looks like the original bulb but it still works. The clock runs well too, and all functions are independent of each other - the ballerina and light can be turned on or off.
The patent number at the back of the clock was issued in 1938, though the clock itself was probably produced in the 1940s. Everything works as it should and is clean. the 4-1/2 foot brown vinyl cord and plug are in good condition with no damage. There are some minor scuffs and small scratches to the wood case as shown, nothing significant. Measurements: 13 inches wide, 10" high, 5" deep front to back.
