This live-edge wooden nut was cut from the trunk of a tree. It still has its original bark around the outside and a very attractive grain pattern. It measures about 8-1/2 inches diameter by 3-1/4 inches high. The underside is covered in protective wool felt and the center has a wood insert that will hold a nutcracker and picks. A metal nut cracker is included.
The bowl dates to the 1940s, possibly early 1950s and is in very good, clean condition - a couple of small scuffs near the rim and the center knob but nothing noticeable. There is a paper label on the bottom which reads Ellwood RusticWare, The Finest In Rustic Souvenirs and Household Gifts. I have an Ellwood bowl like this. It was always on display when I had a Western themed living room, now it mostly comes out during the holidays.
