A lovely vintage picture agate pin or brooch, made in Western Germany in the late 1940s. The oval agate cabochon was expertly cut and polished to resemble a landscape scene of rugged mountain peaks topped with gold pyrite, then mounted in a goldtone stamped brass frame setting. The brooch is relatively large, measuring 2 inches high by just under 1-3/4" wide. The back is marked Western German. The agate stone is perfect with no chips or scratches. The setting is missing one of the little claw prongs, but the stone remains secure.
