This 1982 Shenango restaurant or institutional ware plate was likely made for the Brigham Young University dining hall. The Utah Restaurant Association awarded BYU their Golden Spoon award the same year the plate was made, in honor of their quality dining services.
The 10-3/4 inch dinner plate is creamy white with embossed leaves encircling the rim. It's trimmed in gold with a dark blue band around the well. At the center is the University Seal with the motto "The Glory of God is Intelligence" and the LDS / Mormon beehive symbol of industry. The date code on the back is for December 1982, when Anchor Hocking owned Shenango. The plate is in mint condition with no damage, wear, or utensil/stacking marks.
