Ideal for storage, home decor, or an actual picnic, this classic circa 1950 "Red Man" picnic basket was made in Peru Indiana by the Redmon Company. It's generously sized at 18 by 12 by 11 inches deep. The woven sides have a diamond pattern in light tan and muted pumpkin orange with tan trim. The swing handles are painted steel, and the heavy duty hinged waffle weave lid is Masonite board. The interior is lined in sturdy orange paperboard. An elastic strap utensil holder attached to the underside of the lid still has stretch after all these years. The original wood and Masonite pie shelf is still inside. The basket is in very good vintage condition, clean with only very slight wear to the trim strip around the bottom and a little paint wear on the handles. The pie shelf has some staining as shown.
