This heavy old Bakelite telephone is the Red Bar Masterphone 1000 by Kellogg. It has no dial and was used primarily in rural areas where a switchboard operate would connect the call once the handset was lifted (in other words, an early party line phone). The company later sold dial mechanisms that could easily be installed in the center. The phone and handset are in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The cloth covered cord has a couple of frays. Apparently my pictures show the phone upside down with the handset in the wrong place. It's supposed to rest on top of the red bar.
