A pair of ornate vintage wood composition wall shelves made by Syroco (Syracuse Ornamental Company) painted reddish cherry brown. They're designed to display a plate or similar object, each with a 2-1/4" long groove on the top to rest the edge or rim of the displayed item. The half-circle shelf tops are 8-1/2 inches wide and extending 4-1/4" from the walls at the centers. The bottom supports have carved-effect intertwining scrollwork legs. The overall length is 7-1/2 inches from top to bottom.
Both shelves have embedded metal flush hanging holes at the upper backs. Each has the original Syroco Wood foil label. There's a little minor finish loss to the high points of the scrollwork legs, mostly to the far side of the upper left leaf area of the top left shelf as seen in the first picture. No chips or nicks. This pair likely dates to the 1930s, based on the labels and their wood pulp and flour composition.
