Six larger 1940s unsilvered glass ornaments from the World War II years when military needs and rationing prevented manufacturers from using silver nitrate in their Christmas ornaments. They range from 2-3/4 to 3 inches diameter. Two have paper caps, another result of wartime metal shortages. These include the 3 inch hot pink with white stripes and the lighter blue with white and pastel rings or stripes. The blue ornament is missing the cotton cord hanger, replaced with a metal hanging loop inserted into the paper pulp cap.
Two other striped ornaments, blue and red, have Shiny Brite metal caps. The purple ornament has 3 hand painted white flowers around the center bordered by white bands or stripes. The dark pink with thin white rings has a sprig of wired tinsel inside for sparkle - manufacturers sometimes added tinsel early during the war until their supplies ran out.
There is some flaking and scratching to the painted stripes as shown. The paper cap pink ornament has the most wear. They will be shipped in a non-original box with lid and insert which is in good condition.
